Abstemious:

characterized by self-denial or moderation in eating and drinking.

Example: "She was an abstemious person, always choosing to eat lightly and avoid alcohol."

 

Admonish:

to express warning or disapproval to (someone) about a fault or misdeed.

Example: "The teacher admonished the students for their misbehavior."

 

Ameliorate:

to make better or more tolerable.

Example: "The new law was introduced to ameliorate the situation for small businesses."

 

Anachronism:

something out of its proper time, especially a thing or person that belongs to an earlier time and is now inappropriate or old-fashioned.

Example: "The use of horse-drawn carriages in the city was an anachronism in the age of automobiles."

 

Anecdote:

a short account of a particular incident or event, especially of an interesting or amusing nature.

Example: "She began her speech with a funny anecdote about her childhood."

 

Antipathy:

a strong feeling of dislike or aversion.

Example: "She had an antipathy towards all forms of violence and aggression."

 

 

Arduous:

involving or requiring great exertion; laborious.

Example: "Climbing the mountain was an arduous task, but the view from the top was worth it."

 

Arrogance:

an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or presumptuous claims.

Example: "His arrogance was a turn-off for many people, who found it difficult to work with him."

 

Ascend:

to move or go upward.

Example: "The spaceship ascended into the sky, leaving the Earth behind."

 

Audacious:

bold and daring; fearless.

Example: "Her audacious plan to start her own business was an inspiration to many."

 

Aversion:

a strong feeling of dislike or distaste.

Example: "He had an aversion to spicy food and would never eat anything too hot."

 

Blatant:

 completely obvious and without any attempt at concealment.

Example: "The blatant disregard for safety regulations was a cause for concern."

 

Brevity:

 the quality of being brief or concise.

Example: "He was known for his brevity in speech, always getting straight to the point."

 

Byzantine:

complex or complicated in nature, especially in an excessive or convoluted manner.

Example: "The Byzantine legal system made it difficult for ordinary people to understand their rights."

 

Callous:

showing or having an insensitive and cruel disregard for others.

Example: "His callous remark about the homeless was met with shock and outrage."

 

Capricious:

subject to sudden and unaccountable changes of mood or behavior.

Example: "She was a capricious boss, sometimes praising her employees and sometimes criticizing them."

 

Castigate:

to criticize severely.

Example: "The newspaper castigated the government for its handling of the crisis."

 

Categorical:

absolute and without exception.

Example: "His categorical denial of the allegations made it difficult to believe him."

 

Chicanery:

 the use of trickery to achieve one's goals.

Example: "The chicanery used by the politicians was exposed by the media."

 

Conundrum:

a puzzle or problem with no easy solution.
